Wedding details have to wait. Honeymoon first!

Croatia: Dubrovnik

Since we got here at 2 pm, Tuesday (7 hours ahead of Chicago time), I have been catching up with sleep. And let me tell you, it is such a nice thing to be able to relax and sleep like a baby after months of wedding planning and the wedding itself! Between the naps, we walked around in the 'Old City', enjoyed the fresh air from the Adriatic sea, and dinned with seafood and wine.

Durovnick, a.k.a. 'The Old City' is surrounded by walls from invasion. Two gates on opposite of the city stood two guards at each gate keeping the gates. At 9.30 pm, a drummer parades the main street- Stradun to receive the gate keepers and that is the end of their working day. Nowadays, the gates don't close anymore but it was fun to see them parade through Stradun.

In the 'Old City', there are small streets connected with each other. It is very fun to wander in the streets and see what it takes you. Sometimes a bakery, sometimes a wine bar, or sometimes another restaurant. The city is very picturesque. You don't need to be a professional photographer to take a postcard-like photos in Dubrovnik.

We stayed in a Sobe, family-operated apartments. It is like B & B in the States but there is no breakfast in where we stay. Our apartment is located within the 'Old City'. Here are some pictures of our Sobe. According to the owner, the building was built in 16th century.
