Sears Tower was remaned Willils Tower in 2009. To us loyal Chicagoian (or you can call us stuborn or ideologists), it was a big blow; same as when Marshall Fields became Marcy's, which resulted many 'Old' Chicagoian boycotted Macy's and never shopped there since.

To me, Sears Tower is the same way. The Tower was constructed in 1974; named after Sears, Roebuck, and Co., a chain department stores. In 1993, the company sold the Tower and moved to the suburb, Hoffman Estates.

It was the tallest tower in the world until 1997 when Petronas twin towers in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia took over the title.

The Tower is the one of the must-be places in Chicago and serves as an icon for Chicago besides Al Capone.

When the news announced the name change in 2009, there was big outcry and potest again it. But...Willis has the biggest share of the ownership of the Tower, and money talks!

However, I will never give up calling it the Searle Tower. Call me stubborn

A nice picture for Yu-Hao's Chicago trip in July 2009!
